Wellbeing & Support
The Wellbeing Faculty at Canobolas provides support for students in a variety of ways. Our team consists of the Head Teacher Wellbeing, Student Support Officers, and School Learning Support Officers. The Wellbeing Team operates primarily out of the Hub in upper A Block, however our staff members primary role is to support student engagement in the classroom.
Our Student Support Officers (SSOs) enhance the wellbeing and learning outcomes of students. Our SSOs have experience working with young people to improve their wellbeing and mental health in and out of school environments. They work closely with the school counselling service and the school’s wellbeing team. Our SSOs support transition between stages and also facilitate a variety of programs, including access to external agency support.
Our School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) work alongside classroom teachers in mainstream classes to support student engagement. They provide assistance to students with disabilities and additional learning and support needs. Our SLSOs have experience in a variety of fields and provide support in small group or individual settings within the classroom to assist students to engage with teaching and learning material.
The Head Teacher Wellbeing is responsible for overseeing the Wellbeing Faculty and supporting a variety of wellbeing programs that are run at school in line with the Department’s Wellbeing Framework for Schools. The Head Teacher Wellbeing facilitates programs run through the Canobolas Wellbeing Schedule of Support and also works alongside external agencies to support whole school and individual student needs.
